Your Bite-Sized Guide to the Best Valentine’s Spots in Town

The most romantic day of the year is almost upon us, and if you're looking to woo someone special, dazzle your loved one or score a few domestic brownie points this 14th February 2019, we have a few suggestions just for you.

Now, we know that you’re busy and time is of the essence, so we won’t keep you here for long. Without further ado, here is our bite-sized guide to top-notch Valentine’s Day spots in and around The Potteries for your browsing pleasure:

Peak Wildlife Park

Okay, this may seem a little out there for a Valentine's Day celebration, but if your loved one is a bonafide animal lover, a trip here will make the perfect romantic day out. As it's on the cusp of the Peak District, the views here are incredible, as are the residents. And after you've visited the giant bunny rabbits, the penguins and the meerkats, you can retire indoors for a coffee and a delicious wood-fired pizza.

Rare Steakhouse

Take a leisurely stroll down Newcastle under Lyme's iconic Ironmarket and admire the 'In Bloom' gardens before stepping into the hospitable surroundings of Rare Steakhouse. It's ambient, it's romantic - and if your date loves a steak, well, they will be delighted if you take them for a meal at Rare - that’s for sure.

Amore Italian

Here, the clue is in the name. This most romantic, and authentic of Italian restaurants is nestled alongside the quaint cobbles of Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Pepper Street and if you’re looking for fine dining, a warm welcome, an incredible selection of wines and a spot that oozes the kind of candle-lit romance that Valentine’s Day is famous for, you must book a table here.

The Quarter

Standing as proud as a peacock on Hanley's Piccadilly, The Quarter is part cafe, part deli, part piano bar, part entertainment venue, part evening eatery, and entirely brilliant. This hip hangout boasts astounding interiors, a warm, hospitable atmosphere, an eclectic menu ranging from hand-made deli sandwiches right the way through to tapas, with signature cocktails, drinks deals and plenty of excellent songs playing over the speakers to boot. A prime Valentine's Day hotspot if ever we saw one.

Trentham Gardens

Trentham Gardens is, of course, a local institution and there aren't many Stokies that haven't visited it at least once - but it's often overlooked as a Valentine's Day destination. Browse the Alpine-style shopping Village in its entirety, head into the gardens and walk around the estate’s idyllic lake while spotting the various fairies dotted around the place. And afterwards, take refuge for a lovely late lunch in one of the many cafes or restaurants on offer - what could be more romantic than that?
