Why you NEED to be investing in property in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle under Lyme

With more and more property investors looking to North Staffordshire for fresh long term buy to let opportunities, Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle under Lyme are fast becoming one of the best places to invest in the UK

Northern and midlands towns are truly making their mark on the investment map - if you are looking for a sustainable property investment that is both affordable and will yield you a healthy amount of money over time - look no further than Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle under Lyme.

What is so attractive about Stoke and Newcastle under Lyme?

Transport

For starters the transport links are fabulous. London is about an hour and a half away by train and there are currently 40 trains per day going backwards and forwards to the big smoke. You can get to Manchester in less than 40 minutes - in fact travel to most major cities in the UK from Stoke is a breeze. What's more is the future HS2 high-speed railway will also have a station at Crewe (just 15 miles away) which opens up even more route possibilities and faster travel times.

Stoke and Newcastle under Lyme are in a well connected location about half way up the M6 where tens of thousands of drivers travel each day making it one of the busiest stretches of motorway in the country.

For frequent flyers access to the world is easy with Manchester Airport being only 35.3 miles away. Other close airports include Liverpool, East Midlands and Birmingham all within an hour drive of the city.

Investment

Perhaps the biggest investment and a massive bonus for the North is the A50 Growth Corridor Project. This is a really big moment for Stoke-on-Trent and a key part of the Powering Up campaign to support the economic recovery of the city through the Coronavirus. It’s going to unlock substantial inward investment, stimulate economic growth by opening up opportunities on currently unused land and deliver jobs for the city.

The A50 is the most important transport link between the East and West Midlands. The planned improvements will benefit major employers and their employees between Stoke-on-Trent and Derbyshire, making journeys quicker, easier and safer.

Work has started on a new multi-million pound link road which will unlock land for development – with the potential to create hundreds of jobs – and reduce congestion on the A500.

The Etruria Valley Link Road will create a new 1km road between the Wolstanton junction of the A500 through to St Modwen Park Stoke Central and Festival Park, one of the six key employment sites of Ceramic Valley Enterprise Zone.

In addition to investment in new road infrastructure two new hotels have been recently opened. The Hilton Garden Hotel opened in 2020 located in Stoke-on-Trent city centre near the Cultural Quarter, shops, theatres and museum, and the Courtyard by Marriott Keele Staffordshire is located at the world-leading Keele University and the Science & Innovation Park.

Best areas to invest in property

Here at Rockett Home Rentals we know the area inside out and are able to provide expert knowledge and advise on the best areas for potential buy to let properties. Here’s two areas to begin with and look out for our upcoming blog for more insider insights.

In our experience, Wolstanton ST5 is a sure bet for a good rental income. Wolstanton is a picturesque village just outside the centre of Newcastle under Lyme. It has large open green spaces, good schools, a large Marks and Spencers, plus a new road system is being built linking Wolstanton to a business park that is being significantly expanded.

Another popular location is The Westlands ST5. The Westlands is an affluent area close to the Royal Stoke University Hospital so ideal for Doctors. It also has lots of parks and a good preparatory school.

Both locations are good for families and professional lets.
