The Incredible Local Legacy of Bet365

Every week we see strong evidence that Stoke-on-Trent is a very much a city on the rise, with new commercial developments, cultural events, shops, bars, restaurants and infrastructure popping up all the time.

Well, that's before we even mention the City of Culture 2021 bid and the fact that as of this year, Stoke-on-Trent has been named the UK's number one buy-to-let hotspot.

Another plus point about the growth of The Potteries is the fact that its continual progress creates more jobs in the area, boosting the local economy as a result - and of course, enhancing the general happiness of its residents.

Now, word on the street is parcel delivery firm DPD is creating 20 new jobs in Stoke-on-Trent as part of its plans to expand. The organisation, which has its UK HQ in Birmingham, already employs around 200 people in the North Staffordshire area - and it's about to take on 20 more.

A brand spanking new telesales team is being developed to develop its business in Stoke-on-Trent - and this new army of marketers will be based at DPD's Etruria office.

Dwain McDonald, the company's CEO predicts that the creation and running of the new telesales team will cost around £750,000 per annum, but has pledged further investment in the city as well as the possibility of additional job offerings in the future.

Talking to The Sentinel, Mr McDonald explained:

“We’ve got the additional office space, and we have access to some great talent in the city, and now we want to replicate what we have in Birmingham, in Stoke-on-Trent.

Our interests here have expanded quite a bit in recent years. The distribution centre is one of the biggest in our national network and DPD Pickup has just been incredible since we launched in Stoke-on-Trent a couple of years ago.”

Recruitment for these roles is underway and again, this just serves to strengthen our view that Stoke-on-Trent is set to enjoy a bright and prosperous future with a wealth of opportunities for landlords, tenants and visitors alike cropping up with every passing month - these are exciting times indeed.

If Bet365 is anything to go by, we're sure that in the coming years, more and more big businesses will boom in The Potteries, creating a host of employment opportunities across a range of sectors.
